The master list of academic conferences you need to know about

How do you know what events are worth your time, energy and money? Robotics is growing and there are hundreds of conferences, summits and tradeshows. Due to the adjacency of robotics to automation and artificial intelligence, and the availability of both academic and industry events, there is a veritable feast of activities.

I’ve sampled a wide range of them and want to help steer you towards the tasty treats, and to avoid the timewasters. My short lists skew to the USA and include startup events and trade-shows, so I’m also sharing some methodologies for choosing.

Basically, how important is this conference (impact factor, size and specialization)? How focused, or how large? Who will be there that I want to see? and what are the topics?…
