I believe there is an intrinsic 'slow' built into deploying robots. Hardware has tangible physical presence and requires obvious care and maintenance. Even if software is equally as large, slow, expensive etc. the inherent invisibility of what's happening allows for faster slide into problems and slower recovery into solutions.
